◄ O Heiland, reiß die Himmel auf
► Gamelan Serenade
15. Macht hoch die Tür, die Tor macht weit
(Lyrics: Georg Weissel, 1590 − 1635,
melody: Halle, 1704)
This adaptation is about opening up and moving through tonal spaces.
This is quite audible at the beginning of the two-voice composition, when the melody is accompanied by the
lower voice, moving expansively across several octaves.
However the melody itself wanders from its initial upper-voice position through fragmentation and distribution
between the two voices until it reaches the lower voice one octave below.
Following a free variation in a different meter it finally re-emerges one octave higher than at the outset.
